about FIRST ROBOTICS

"The varsity Sport for the MindTM, FRC combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. Under strict rules, limited resources, and time limits, teams of 25 students or more are challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program robots to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors.  It’s as close to "real-world engineering" as a student can get. Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team."

Students get to:
  Learn from professional engineers
Build and compete with a robot of their own design
Learn and use sophisticated software and hardware
Compete and cooperate in alliances and tournaments
Earn a place in the World Championship
Qualify for over $20 million in college scholarships

Bond Brigade is a small FRC Team based out of Kiel High School. About 20 students from both Kiel and New Holstein High School came together for the 2015 FRC season, along with 10 outstanding mentors from different companies in the surrounding area. With help from their mentors, in the 2015 season, the rookie team managed to create a functioning robot, something amazing in and of itself. Bond Brigade was also awarded Rookie All-Star at both the Milwaukee Regional in March of 2015 and at the FIRST Robotics Worlds competition in April of 2015.  Two amazing feats that we as a team are very proud of accomplishing!
As 2016 rolled along, we grew to around 35 students, with an additional 3 mentors. We competed in FIRST StrongHold again at the Milwaukee Regional, and won the Creativity Award.
As the 2017 season is currently active, we work hard 5-6 days a week, each student working at least 8 hours each week. Though it is just the beginning of our season, we hold out hope to return to the FIRST Robotics Worlds competition. We are very excited to continue working and make it to not only one, but two regionals this year! We cannot wait to see how our season unfolds!
